News reaching the Siya crew is that Sporting Lisbon striker, William Owusu, has finally arrived in South Africa to attend trials at Orlando Pirates.
As reported by the crew, Owusu was supposed to have trained with Bucs last year, but a number of delays caused by negotiations between Lisbon and his representative Ralph Nkomo, and also complications with his wife’s pregnancy back in Ghana scuppered a planned trip to South Africa.
Now the crew can reveal that the 23-year-old striker played for Pirates in this morning’s practice match against Mozambican side Costa do Sol at Rand Stadium.
"Yes, William joined us for trials recently. He only played 45 minutes and was then substituted," a source close to Pirates told the Siya crew.
Owusu spent last season on loan to Westerlo in Belgium where he reportedly scored 11 goals in 25 appearances.
If he signs, Owusu will join his compatriot Fatau Dauda, who joined the Buccaneers at the beginning of the season.
