Siya sources have revealed that Shakes Mashaba has identified Da Gama as his preferred candidate for the role, with SAFA believed to have given him the go-ahead.
Mashaba will announce his first Bafana team as head coach at 11h30 today, with South Africa’s public eagerly anticipating which players will make his squad for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria.
It has also been confirmed that Mashaba will also reveal who his assistant coach at the national team will be, with Da Gama the odds-on favourite to take over the position that Serame Letsoaka occupied during Gordon Igesund’s time with Bafana.
