Orlando Pirates’ youth development mentor, Augusto Palacios, is beaming with pride as his young Bucs talents continue making headway into the senior ranks of the Parktown-based club.

The crew understands that some of the youngsters who have been excelling in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge under the astute mentorship of Palacios have been invited to train with the Pirates senior squad.
The names invited to train with the Bucs stars are attacking midfielder, Sphesihle Sangweni and defender, Lehlohonolo Mtshali.
The Bucs duo are hoping to emulate their colleague, Menzi Masuku who not so long ago was a Bucs junior and reserve, however was recommended to train with the club's first team and was rewarded with a cameo appearance in Pirates 2-0 defeat to SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout semi-final clash played over this past weekend.
“They are slowly introducing the younger talent into the first team so that the players can get a feel of what’s it like to train with their senior counter-parts,” revealed a source.
“The idea is to get the youngsters used to the training intensity and a taste of first team action. This will motivate them to do even better,” added the source.
The crew also got in touch with the Pirates’ Floyd Mbele to get a comment regarding the club’s plans for the young rookies.

“These are players who belong to Orlando Pirates and will continue to be monitored,” Mbele simply said.
