Orlando Pirates have confirmed that their 23-year-old winger is set to undergo surgery next week and will be out of action for the rest of the 2016/17 season.
Thembinkosi Lorch, who returned from his loan stint with Chippa United in January this year, will have to sit out for the remainder of the season, after picking up an injury to his shoulder during the team’s goalless draw against Highlands Park last week, April 15.
“Thembinkosi Lorch is set to undergo surgery next week and will miss out the remainder of the season,” Pirates confirmed on their official website.
“According to the medical department, Lorch has suffered trauma to his joint capsule and ligaments which require surgical intervention,” the club added.
Since his return from his loan stint with the Chilli Boys, Lorch has been instrumental in Head Coach Kjell Jonevret’s first-team set-up.
The absence of Lorch sees Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Qalinge step in for the Soweto giants as they aim to clinch the Nedbank Cup and look to finish off the campaign in the top eight of the Absa Premiership league standings.
