Known as ‘Shakes’ during his heyday as a striker for Bucs, Ntsoseng wrote a name for himself in the history books of South African football as a player who scored goals on a regular basis for the Soweto giants.
According to Pirates in their tribute on the club’s official website, there had been plans for Ntsoseng to be honoured during the club’s 80th anniversary celebrations next year.
Phil Ntsoseng RIP
He was a natural born striker and his goal scoring touch duly earned him the respect of teammates, coaches and fans alike. He was no ordinary player, he was a player who found no better joy than to rattle the back of the net.
Who are we talking about? None other than Philemon ‘Shakes’ Ntsoseng - the lanky Orlando Pirates legend who has sadly passed away.
Orlando Pirates was informed of these sad news by a member of the family.
For all of us at Orlando Pirates we are very saddened by the passing away of Shakes as he was one of the legends who will be honoured in the Club’s 80th Anniversary year in 2017. Back in 2012, Ntsoseng was selected as one of the Top 75 Orlando Pirates players of all time.
