Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga in line for PSL Goal of the Season award
The goal by Orlando Pirates striker, Justin Shonga against Chippa United has been shortlisted for the Goal of the Season at the PSL Awards this evening.
Shonga’s nomination follows another impressive strike by his teammate and countryman, Augustine Mulenga whose strike against Bloemfontein Celtic bagged the Goal of the Month in April.
The 21-year-old’s goal has been announced as one of the finalists for the Absa Premiership Goal of the Season as voted for by the fans.
Shonga’s strike will be competing with Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder and captain, Hlompo Kekana for his long-range effort against Pirates and Siphelele Magubane of Golden Arrows for his strike against Polokwane City earlier this year. The winner will pocket a cheque for R50 000 for the goal of the season.
Since his arrival to the Parktown-based side, the Zambian international has bagged four league goals in 19 league appearances this season.
Meanwhile, the club has also confirmed the nominations of duo Musa Nytama and Innocent Maela.
Nyatama is in line for the Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season where he could bag a whopping R200 000 should he win. Maela, on the other hand, is in line for the Defender of the Season which comes with R50 000 prize money.
The PSL awards takes place tonight, Tuesday 29 May 2018 and 20:00.
