Orlando Pirates Striker Called Up For Zambia
One of the Orlando Pirates strikers has been called up to the Zambian national team for their upcoming match in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Zambia will face Nigeria in their World Cup qualifying match at the Akwa Ibom Stadium on Saturday. Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Wedson Nyirenda, who is the current coach of Zambia, has named newly signed Pirates forward, Justin Shonga, in his team for the game against Nigeria.
Shonga, 20, made his PSL debut at the weekend in the colours of Pirates, in their 2-2 draw against Polokwane City, after the Soweto giants edged Mamelodi Sundowns to his signature.
Shonga is likely to face Chippa United goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, who is in the Nigeria squad for Saturday’s match, should both players be selected to play on the weekend.
Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Kennedy Mweene, has also been called up to the Zambia national team.
