Bucs Star To Finish Season On The Sidelines?
Orlando Pirates Provide Injury Update
Orlando Pirates have confirmed that one of the team’s star players is likely to finish the season on the sidelines, owing to an injury.
The Buccaneers lost against Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon in their penultimate 2017/18 Absa Premiership fixture.
Apart from the 1-0 defeat, Bucs were dealt a blow as Luvuyo Memela suffered an injury. Although the Pirates star went on to finish the match, the Soweto giants have reported that Memela could be ruled out of the last match of the season, which will be against Free State Stars, as confirmed by the club.
“The defeat to Cape Town City over the past weekend wasn’t without any casualties. Attacking winger Luvuyo Memela - one of Pirates' best performers of the season, suffered an injury which could potentially see him ruled out for the last match of the season against Free State Stars. According to the Bucs’ medical staff, the 30-year old has suffered a knee strain and will be sent to a specialist to assess the full extent of his injury,” Bucs confirmed on their website.
Pirates already have Thabiso Kutumela out with a long-term injury suffered in training in February.
“Meanwhile, in other injury news, Thabiso Kutumela continues to undergo his first phase of rehabilitation and is said to be progressing well. Right back Mthokozisi Dube has recovered from his groin strain and is now currently working with the strength and conditioning team,” confirmed Bucs.
