Pirates Player Ratings v Polokwane

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the Orlando Pirates players, following their 3-1 win over Polokwane City.

Here are the ratings:

Brighton Mhlongo; 6

Did not have too many saves to make in the game but pulled off  a stunning save to stoppage time deny Jabulani Maluleke.

Happy Jele: 6

Not the usual performance from the Pirates fullback, he was solid defensively but hardly attacked as much he usually does.

Rooi Mahamutsa: 6

Rooi put in a solid showing in the heart of the defence and frustrated the Polokwane attackers.

Siyabonga Sangweni: 6

Mixed views for Sangweni, made a few reckless challenges in and around the 18 area, although Pirates were not punished.

Thabo Matlaba: 7

Matlaba was his usual self down the left flank, bombing down the wing, he also won the penalty for Pirates and he picked up the Man of the Match award.

Issa Sarr: 6

Was impressive in the first half as Pirates dominated but faded in the final 45 minutes.

Thandani Ntshumayelo: 6

Not the best of games for the Pirates midfielder and really struggled in the second half when Polokwane had their best spell.

Mpho Makola: 7

Looks to be relishing in the number 10 role, got his name on the score-sheet but could have had another goal in the second half, but was impressive throughout.

Sifiso Myeni: 6

Myeni struggled to get going, squandered a big chance in the second half and picked up a yellow card.

Oupa Manyisa: 7

Was among the goals in the first half and picked up an assist for Makola's goal and was key to Pirates' first half dominance.

Kermit Erasmus: 7

Scored a delightful chip in the first half, but was frustrated for most of the game and had a couple more chances to increase his tally.

Substitutes:

Lennox Bacela: 6

Replaced Erasmus in the 67th minute, looked lively and should have got his name on the score-sheet in the 74th minute.

Thabo Rakhale: 6

Played the final 20 minutes but  hardly made an impact on the game.

Ntsikelelo Nyauza: NA

Was not on the field long enough to receive a rating.
