Soccer Laduma rates in the individual performances of the Orlando Pirates players following their 2-0 win over Chippa United on 10 March 2015.
Brighton Mhlongo: 6
Was not a very busy night between the sticks for Mhlongo. He did make one fantastic sace at point blank range from a Chippa corner in the first half.
Thabo Matlaba: 7
Was enterprising in his left-back role. He defended well and also got forward down the flank. He also had a few long range shots on goal, but his direction was poor and he often missed the target.
Siyabonga Sangweni: 6
Was good in his centre-back role, but did not have much to do as Chippa offered very little in attack. Was solid in the closing stages of the game when Chippa were applying pressure.
Rooi Mahamutsa: 6
Was a quiet night for Mahamutsa in his centre defensive role. He did not have much to did, but did what was required of him when necessary. Was solid in the closing stages of the game when Chippa were applying pressure.
Happy Jele: 6
Was enterprising in his right-back role. He defended well and also got forward down the flank. In the first half he did supply one great ball over the top for Erasmus to break through on goal.
Sifiso Myeni: 7
Myeni was brilliant in his attacking midfield role for Pirates. He created his side’s first goal with a pin-point cross from the right and then scored his side’s second goal with an expert finish from just inside the box.
Thandani Ntshumayelo: 7
Played well in the centre midfield role. Was creative in attack and good in defence. He created some great scoring chances for Erasmus and also made his side’s second goal with a low pin-point cross from the right-wing.
Issa Sarr: 6
Was solid in his defensive midfield role. Was consistent and did not put a foot wrong. He was also useful in attack with his creative play and accurate passing. Was substituted in the 65th minute for Masalesa.
Mpho Makola: 7
Was good in his attacking midfield role and cause numerous problems in attack. He scored his side’s first goal after getting onto a good right wing cross. He also produced some good crosses into the box. Was substituted in the 74th minute for Rakhale.
Oupa Manyisa: 6
Played just behind the striker and was good in his attacking role. He proved to be a constant threat in attack, creating scoring chances for his teammates and also saw a couple of his shots on goal well-saved.
Kermit Erasmus: 6
Was probably one of the poorer performing players on the night. He was not as lively as we are used to seeing him in attack. He did have a couple of shots on goal, but was well denied by the Chippa goalkeeper. On one occasion, though, at the start of the second half he had a free header, but headed over the target from close range. He also wasted a glorious one-on-one with the keeper in the second half. Was substituted in the 78th minute for Musonda.
Lehlohonolo Masalesa: 6
Came on in the 65th minute to steady the midfield and did just that. He also played a good though ball for Erasmus, but he failed to take the opportunity.
Thabo Rakhale: 6
Came on in the 74th minute. Was entertaining in attack and showed his skill on a good few occasions. He had positive impact on the game, but did not help in adding to the scoreline
Mwape Musonda: N/A
Not on long enough to have an impact. Came on as a substitute in the 78th minute.
