Confirmed: The Four PSL Clubs Heading To CAF
With the Nedbank Cup done and dusted, the four teams that will represent South Africa in next season’s CAF inter-club competitions have now been confirmed.
Check out the four teams - and how they qualified - in the gallery above!
TS Galaxy’s shock win over Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium following a late Zakhele Lepasa penalty not only secured their place as the first lower league side to win the tournament, but also booked their spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup as well.
Dan Malesela’s side join Bidvest Wits – who finished third in the Absa Premiership – in CAF’s second tier club tournament for the upcoming campaign, and will be looking to fly the flag for Mzansi for the first time in their young existence.
Meanwhile, over in CAF Champions League – Africa’s most prestigious club competition – it will be two clubs familiar to continental battles who look to try and add a second star to their badge, with Mamelodi Sundowns booking their spot in the tournament once again alongside Orlando Pirates.
Masandawana secured their place in the CCL for the sixth consecutive edition by winning the 2018/19 Absa Premiership, while the Buccaneers’second-place finish means that they will return after being knocked out in the group stages this year following their return to action on the continent.
Which PSL side do you think can go the furthest in CAF tournament’s next season?
