Bucs Confirm Return Of International Stars

Orlando Pirates Give Update On National Team Players

Some of the Orlando Pirates players that have been with their respective national teams during the FIFA break are expected to report for training at the club today.

The Buccaneers have spent the past few days preparing for theirNedbank Cup last 16 game with Jomo Cosmos at Olen Park Stadium on Sunday. 

Thabo Matlaba, Mpho Makola and Thamsanqa Gabuza have been with Bafana Bafana for their most recent two games against Cameroon in the qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, while Gift Motupa has been with the South African under-23 team in their international friendly match with Brazil. Edwin Gyimah, Issa Sarr and Yasser Mugerwa have been with their respective national teams. 

Speaking at the Nedbank Cup press conference today, Pirates coach Eric Tinkler confirmed that some of the national team players are only expected back at training today.

“The national team players Makola, Matlaba & Gyimah will report back this afternoon and we will see then how bad are the injuries,” Tinkler has been quoted as saying, as tweeted by Bucs’ media officer Thandi Merafe.

Gyimah is suspended for the game with Cosmos.
