Pirates: Our Philosophy Is Always To Sign Quality
Orlando Pirates' Floyd Mbele declares signing quality over quantity
With only one league game remaining in the 2017/18 campaign, Orlando Pirates will be one of the clubs set to make some key signings to reinforce the current squad.
With a number of key players linked to the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates Administrative Chip Whip Floyd Mbele has told Soccer Laduma that the club’s philosophy heading into the transfer window remains the same as always with the emphasis on quality rather than quality.
“It’s that time of the season when club’s scramble to sign all and every available players, but I want to take time to explain to football supporters that at Pirates we never sign for the sake of signing,” Mbele told the Siya crew.
“There is a process in place in which our technical team advises us on which players we need. That’s always been our philosophy, we sign quality and that will never change. You have to remember Pirates is a big club which means we have quality everywhere.
“So when we sign a player it has to be a quality player to complement the players we already have. It may be different at other clubs but here we trust the recommendations of the technical team, they are the most qualified to determine which players we need,” concluded the Bucs man.
Meanwhile, Pirates are preparing to cap off what has been a turnaround season where they managed to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
The Buccanneers host Free State Stars this coming Saturday at the Orlando Stadium at 15H00.
