Orlando Pirates will look to bounce back from their weekend defeat to SuperSport United when they were dumped early from the MTN8 Cup when they take on Bidvest Wits in a league encounter at the Orlando Stadium.
Despite the loss, the duo of Ben Motshwari and Vincent Pule gave a good account of themselves in the game. Now the duo will likely be in the squad to face their former employers in Wednesday night’s clash.
Soccer Laduma spoke to the duo on their new home and the possibility of playing against their former side.
“I never expected to play Wits so early on but as a player, its part of the game and it should never throw you off,” Pule said to the Siya crew.
“Everything happens at the right time. This is the right time for me achieve certain things with Pirates after my time with Wits which also had its successes. Against Wits, it will be business as usual. We want to forget about Saturday night’s result and make sure that our league campaign is on track,” added the Bucs midfielder.
Meanwhile, Motshwari who has commented on his Bucs official debut said he would have loved to cap off his first appearance with a win.
“It would have been nice to win the game but it wasn’t meant to be. However, if I’m needed against Wits I must be ready to play for my teammates, and the Bucs supporters,“ shared Motshwari.
“It’s about the here and now. I’m a Pirates player but I don’t forget the role Wits has played in helping develop my career. Pirates is a new chapter of my career so I’m ready to play for my new home,” added the 27-year-old.
Both players further stated that their experience of Wits will not be a factor heading into the clash.
“Football changes and evolves all the time. At Wits, I played more forward but here at Pirates I’ve played slightly deeper or wider,” noted Pule.
“Wits have signed new players and I know that their strategy has changed so both teams cannot rely on the previous knowledge they have of each other,” he concluded.
The fixture is set to start at 19h30 and will be Bucs' third league game of the new season.
