Bucs Duo Avoid Disciplinary Measures

Orlando Pirates have decided not to punish the international duo of Edwin Gyimah and Issa Sarr despite their late return from national duty.

The duo arrived back in South Africa from the recent FIFA international break late, meaning they missed the Buccaneers' Telkom Knockout encounter against the University of Pretoria.

Sarr and Gyimah were called up for the Senegalese and Ghanaian national teams respectively and were both expected back in Mzansi on October 15 ahead of their club game on October 16.

However, the duo arrived back too late to be included in the Bucs team for their TKO opening round tie with Tuks, which they went on to win 2-1.

A Siya source has indicated that the club has come to the understanding that the players were not at fault for their late arrival and have decided to waive punishment for the two.

“The management feels that there is no need for any punishment or disciplinary action for the two. Though they arrived later than expected, it wasn’t their fault,” the source said.

“They made sure they came back as soon as they could according to the flight bookings they had.

“Unfortunately they couldn’t be part of that team that won against Tuks, but they did everything right on their side and the team management took that into consideration and are satisfied with the players’ commitment to the team.”
