Football fans have been urged to support the South African senior national team in their quest to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon.
Stuart Baxter and Bafana Bafana are in their final preparations for the eagerly-awaited match with the Super Eagles to be staged at FNB Stadium on Saturday, and Orlando Pirates’ Vincent Pule, who is one of the players in the team, has given an update on how it is like in camp for the 1996 AFCON champions.
“Nothing else matters but victory on Saturday. We look forward to the tough match against Nigeria. Unlike the Seychelles, who were a closed book, Nigeria are the complete opposite of this. We know what to expect; this is a team that possesses a lot of quality. We have been working hard at training. I would say that the mood is fine and we are fully focused on the task that lies ahead,” Pule told Pirates’ official website.
The Buccaneers, who went to the FIFA international break sitting at the top of the Absa Premiership log and having qualified for the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout, have six stars that will be representing their respective national teams this weekend.
Apart from the trio of Pule, Thembinkosi Lorch and Innocent Maela, who are in Bafana camp for the Nigeria match, Augustine Mulenga and Justin Shonga are with Zambia for their match against Mozambique, while Marshall Munetsi is the only representative from the club in the Zimbabwe national team that will take on Liberia.
