Orlando Pirates Coach Lauded For Impressive Season
Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been lauded for his role in leading Orlando Pirates to a second place finish on the Absa Premiership log, as well as qualifying the team for the CAF Champions League.
Following their impressive 4-0 win against Bidvest Wits last week, Bucs confirmed their position as this season’s PSL runners-up.
With Mamelodi Sundowns having clinched the PSL title, following their victory over Ajax Cape Town last weekend, The Buccaneers will look forward to returning to the Champions League as their achievement to take from the 2017/18 season under Sredojevic and his technical team comprising of Rhulani Mokwena and Benson Mhlongo, among others.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Pirates legend and former captain of the side John ‘Dungi’ Moeti, praised Sredojevic for his impressive work with Bucs this season.
“A lot of people are singing praises of the assistant coach, Rhulani Mokwena, but you must remember that at the end of the day it is the head coach that determines the route to be taken by the team. So it all boils down to the leadership and man management skills of the coach,” said Moeti.
“If the coach was not allowing him (Mokwena) to take charge of certain things he wouldn’t be recognized as he has been now. Yes, Rhulani is good, but he hasn’t proven himself as a head coach, but he has done extremely well as the second in command,” concluded Dungi.
