A former Orlando Pirates winger could be on the verge of guiding one of the club’s junior teams to promotion.
Philani Kubheka – a winger for Pirates in the early 2000s – has been involved in the coaching of junior teams at the Soweto giants, since his retirement from playing professional football in 2015.
The 39-year-old is currently coaching Pirates’ team that is participating in the SAB League. The team is involved in the play-offs for promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.
Having already won two of their matches in the play-offs, Khubeka’s side is closing in on promotion to Mzansi’s third tier, as the team is at the top of their group.
Bucs could clinch automatic promotion to Gauteng’s ABC Motsepe League, should they win both their next two matches.
