Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin 'Iron Duke' Khoza has warned about the consequences that could be caused by disobeying Coronavirus prevention rules.
The Buccaneers boss was speaking during Wednesday’s joint press briefing in conjunction with his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Kaizer Motaung, Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize, Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, as well as MultiChoice group chairman Imtiaz Patel.
“The majority of you follow the beautiful game. You know that attacking without the properly constructed defence can have disastrous consequences. By staying at home, you have taken a much-needed defensive position,” said Khoza, as quoted on Pirates’ official website.
The two giants of South African football have donated personal protective equipment to the National Health Laboratory Service, which include gloves, masks and goggles, as part of the attempts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
It remains unlear when the 2019/20 PSL schedule is set to resume, as Mzansi remains on lockdown until the end of the month, as instructed by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
