Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Willard Katsande, is set to see his difficult season of late continue at international level after he has been left out of Zimbabwe senior national team’s squad for their upcoming match.
In recent matches for Chiefs, Katsande has been a notable absentee from coach Ernst Middendorp’s line-ups.
While the German coach has not ruled out a possibility of the 33-year-old central midfielder’s return for the side, his situation with lack of enough game-time at club level has been noticed by Zimbabwe's national team selectors.
Katsande, who is a former captain of the Warriors, is a notable absentee from the squad named by former Free State Stars coach Sunday Chidzambwa.
Katsande’s Chiefs teammates Khama Billiat and Teenage Hadebe have been named in the 28-man squad.
Following his impressive performances for Orlando Pirates in recent matches, Kudakwashe Mahachi is making a return to the squad and has been called up alongside teammate Marshall Munetsi from Bucs.
Zimbabwe are set to play a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo Brazzaville on March 24.
