The PSL’s Two Ever-Presents, Rusike Set For Bizarre Record
Only Two Players Have Played Every Minute In The Absa Premiership
There are only two players in the Absa Premiership who have played every minute of every game in the league this season, and they’ll be hoping to make it a full house next weekend.
Though a number of players, including the likes of Percy Tau, Daniel Cardoso and Lucky Baloyi, have played in every game so far, just Patrick Tignyemb of Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars’ Badra Ali Sangaré have played every minute of every game.
The duo is both expected to start between the sticks for their respective sides on the final game of the season as they look to match the feat achieved by Mthokozisi Dube and Thabiso Semenya in 2017/18, and Ronwen Williams in the campaign before that.
Tignymeb and Sangaré have clocked up 2,610 minutes in the Absa Premiership so far this season, and if they do make it through 90 minutes next weekend then they’ll hit the 2,700 mark.
Meanwhile, Evans Rusike could pick up the peculiar record of having played in 31 games this season due to the fact that he played for both Maritzburg United and SuperSport United, with the latter having played catch-up games due to their CAF Confederation Cup exploits. He’s played for and against his current and former employers this season.
Who do you think has been this season’s most consistent player?
