Maritzburg Bring SA Starlet Back From Europe
One Of Maritzburg United's Signings Was Brought Back From France
Maritzburg United have confirmed the signing of two new players, joining the likes of Keagan Buchanan and Denwin Farmer, with one of them being tempted back from France.
Maritzburg are looking to bolster their side going into the 2018/19 season after an impressive campaign last time out, bringing in Buchanan and Farmer to help Fadlu Davids in his attempts to do even better this time around.
As previously reported, with the new season just around the corner, the club have announced the signing of two youngsters, Sizwe Muthwa and Tholang Masegela, who have put pen to paper on long-term deals in Pietermaritzburg.
Muthwa, 19, and Masegela, 20, have signed five-year deals with the Team of Choice and will be hoping to break into Davids plans for the new season as the coach looks to continue bringing young players up through the ranks at the club.
Masegela’s signing is particularly impressive as he was tempted into making a return to South African shores from a spell with AC Ajaccio in Ligue 2, while Muthwa is former Maritzburg City and is returning to the place of his birth.
Having signed for Ajaccio just over a year ago, Masegela joins the growing list of South African players to make a move overseas before returning shortly afterwards, with the midfielder’s lack of game-time in France likely to have affected his decision.
He joined Ajaccio with Keanu Cupido last year, however, the defender is still in France at this point in time.
