Nigerian born midfielder Felix Obada has challenged the Super Eagles to prove that they are the super powers of Africa by winning the Chan competition.
Obada, who plays for Moroka Swallows in the PSL, told the Siya crew that Nigeria need to prove that winning the CAF Champions League was not a fluke.
“Nigeria have quality players and they also have a very good coach in Stephen Keshi. I think they have what it takes to win this competition,” Obada told the Siya crew.
“It’s not going to be easy though because there are other good teams who could win this competition including the hosts. It’s up to the Nigerian players to show everyone that winning the Afcon was no fluke by winning this tournament as well,” added Obada.
Nigeria will begin their Chan campaign by facing Mali on Saturday night at Cape Town Stadium.
The Super Eagles will then play Mozambique on Wednesday, 15 January, before rounding off their Group A matches with a clash against South Africa on Sunday, 19 January.
“With no offence to South Africa, they have no record against Nigeria in official matches, so I think the Super Eagles will beat them again next Sunday,” concluded Obada.
