Mamelodi Sundowns have lost their last two league outings, most recently to SuperSport United, after going down to Moroka Swallows, with both games ending in a 1-0 scoreline to the opposition.
Despite the two Absa Premiership losses, the Pitso Mosimane-coached outfit advanced to the quarterfinal stage of this season’s Nedbank Cup after eliminating Golden Arrows from the tournament - full match report here.
The Chloorkop-based side is now looking to get their league campaign back on track. On Saturday they travel to Rustenburg where they will be hosted by Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, and although they will be looking to bag all three points on offer, they will face a tough task against Cavin Johnson’s team.
Veteran midfielder Esrom Nyandoro told Soccer-Laduma that as a team, they cannot afford to lose any more games this season. He explained that they will tackle each and every game as if it were a cup final.
Nyandoro said, “We will be playing cup finals from now on. In every game we play, it will be like a cup final.
“We have to make sure that we win the remaining nine league games and also do well in the Nedbank Cup games, where we will also be playing Platinum Stars in the quarterfinals. The players are up to the challenge and they want to win games.”
The league outing on Saturday will be played at 15:30, with the Nedbank Cup being played a fortnight later at Loftus Stadium.
