Last year Bloemfontein Celtic beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the final of the 2012/13 Telkom Knockout at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with the Brazilians losing out at the final hurdle.
As Downs look to go one better this season, by going all the way, last year’s finalists have been drawn against each other in the first round of the 2013/14 edition of the Telkom Knockout, where Sundowns will travel to Bloemfontein.
Midfielder Esrom Nyandoro told the Siya crew after the Telkom Knockout draw on Monday night that the first round tie will not be a grudge game and that it will be a complete different game to last year.
“We won't be thinking about revenge at all. We know that to reach a cup final we have to win the first game and that's what we will be doing.
“We have a new team with new players and new coach different from the one we used when we lost in the final, so we have a new mandate and we just have to go there and win.
“It won't be easy at all as we beat them in the first league game this season and they are aware of what we can do,” the Zimbabwean said.
