Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder-cum-striker Vuyani Ntanga’s career seems to be growing from strength at the club, but many stil believe that he reserves his best performances for matches against Orlando Pirates.
The Jouberton-born player was introduced gradually last season after being promoted from the club’s junior structure and he only managed four starts. But this season he has put his hand up and shown that he can play a key role in Ernst Middendorp’s team and has already started in 10 league games so far.
Last season he came on in the last minutes against Bucs and scored a crucial equaliser and earlier in the current campaign he netted a stunning long-range effort in a 3-2 win over Pirates. However, he plays it down to pure luck rather than being extra motivated against Roger de Sa’s side.
He told the Siya crew, “I know people always say maybe I’ve got something against Pirates. But no, err...what can I say? It’s all about luck. There will always be that team that you will have the luck of scoring against when you face them. It’s not because it’s Pirates. The way I see it is that I have luck when I play against Pirates and that’s it. I always give my best in every game.”
