News landing at the Siya crew’s desk is that Ikamva is once again chosen as the destination for European clubs seeking to enjoy their summer training camp.
Ajax Cape Town are based at Ikamva, and this has now become a training ground for Viking Footballklubb (most often called Viking and Viking Stavanger internationally). The team arrived in the Mother City last Saturday.
The Norwegian football club from the city of Stavanger follows in the footsteps of Bundesliga club, VFB Stuttgart which used Ikamva as their training base three weeks ago.
According to the Urban Warriors website, the Norwegians have already settled in the Mother City having enjoyed a run in the city on Saturday evening soon after their arrival.
The travelling squad and technical crew participated in an “Amazing Race” team building exercise, a drumming session and a walk around the Bo-Kaap market.
The team will also visit Langa township, enjoy a hike up Table Mountain, surfing at Muizenberg beach and play a friendly against Santos Football Club.
Founded in 1899, Viking FK is one of the most successful clubs in Norway, having scooped eight premier league titles and five cup titles.
Also planned, is a trip to a game lodge in Johannesburg and a visit to Sun City before departing back home.
