Contrary to some reports in the media, Nigeria and Warri Wolves centre back, Azubuike Egwuekwe, has not completed a medical or agreed terms to join Wits. This is according to Wits coach, Gavin Hunt.
Hunt explained to the Siya crew that the club were still assessing the towering 24-year-old with a view to a deal possibly taking place. However, he confirmed that no deal had yet been agreed between the Students and the player.
Egwuekwe caught the eye at times for the Super Eagles during the recently completed Chan tournament and it's believed the physically imposing defender could have a bright future in the PSL. Nonetheless, as it stands, the 6 ft 5 defender is still being looked at by the Clever Boys management and technical team.
Hunt said, "We're looking at him. Obviously we'll look at him for a couple of days because we haven't signed him yet. Look, he did well at the Chan and we're seeing if he fits in here. He is a foreign player so he's got to be better than what we've got already. We are always looking to improve the squad if we can. We should know in a day or two what we decide to do."
