AmaZulu’s general manager, Peter O’Connor, confirmed that the club has not received any offers for Mbongeni Mzimela or Stanley Kgatla, with the players having been placed on the club’s transfer list at the end of last season.
Both Mzimela and Kgatla are still contracted to the KZN outfit, however Usuthu’s neighbours, Golden Arrows and Thanda Royal Zulu, have both expressed an interest in Mzimela in the past.
The 28-year-old spent his time deputising for Tapuwa Kapini at Usuthu, although Philani Zikala was chosen to play ahead of Mzimela at times. Mzimela confirmed to the Siya crew that his agent, Ali Tlhoaele is in search of a club for him.
The club’s decision on Kgatla came as a surprise as the player looked to have convinced Craig Rosslee and his technical team that he can offer something to the team.
Kgatla made 21 starts for AmaZulu this past season. The player’s performances helped the side finish the season in a safe position, above the relegation zone.
