News reaching the Siya crew is that Thembinkosi Fanteni is unlikely to sign with Royal Eagles in the National First Division.
The striker was handed a trial at the Durban-based outfit, as he attempts to revive his fading football career.
The former Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates player has been unlucky in his club search at the different teams he has been to.
According to a source close to Fanteni, the player is seemingly unlikely to get a deal at Eagles, after the club has taken time to offer him a contract.
“It doesn’t look like Fanteni will be signing with Eagles. I think it’s a matter of him wanting to train and to regain his fitness more than anything at this stage,” said the source.
Eagles recently signed Mark Mayambela on a short-term deal.
The other players from the Western Cape, Mkhanyiseli Siwahla and Welcome Qalanto have signed for Mthatha Bucks in the ABC Motsepe League.
Moroka Swallows, Maritzburg United and Chippa United are some of the PSL clubs that turned down Fanteni in his club search.
