The PSL have indicated that no decision has been made on whether Mamelodi Sundowns will be charged for their fans behaviour or not.
On Wednesday night a faction of Downs fans expressed their frustration towards Coach Pitso Mosimane at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, following the team’s poor start to the season.
Downs were knocked out of the MTN8 in the first round of the cup competition, losing to Bloemfontein Celtic, while in the league, have only managed two wins in their opening five rounds of action.
As title contenders, Downs’ fans are not happy with Mosimane at the helm and the team’s performance under his leadership.
On Wednesday night, following the 3-2 win over Ajax Cape Town, a faction of irate Downs fans protested against Mosimane and called for the coach to be relieved of his duties.
It’s not the first time this season that the fans have vented their frustration towards the coach. Following Downs’ 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows at the Chatsworth Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal, a group of fans expressed their dissatisfaction towards the coach.
Now, following Wednesday's incident at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, the Siya crew called the PSL to assess whether the club would be charged for their fans’ behaviour.
“As in all cases, the PSL will revue the match-commissioner’s match report and if the need arises, it will be brought to the the prosecutor’s attention.
“Should the need arise, the prosecutor, who is independent from the PSL, will deliberate his findings,” explained the PSL’s Media Relations Manager, Luxolo September.
It seems that the Downs fans are not happy with the team’s performances and there is no doubt that they will be expecting a win when the Brazilians take on Jomo Cosmos this weekend.
