Kaizer Chiefs say that they are yet to receive any formal confirmation regarding the ankle injury of their captain, Itumeleng Khune.
The goalkeeper missed Bafana Bafana’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Nigeria in the final game of CHAN’s Group A after picking up an ankle injury, and it remains to be seen whether he will be able to feature for Chiefs against Mamelodi Sundowns on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Chiefs’ football manager, Bobby Motaung, said that the extend of Khune’s injury is not yet known, with Bafana yet to correspond with the club.
Motaung explained, “We have not received any formal confirmation from Bafana Bafana regarding Khune's injury.”
Should Khune miss the top-of-the-table clash on Thursday, then Stuart Baxter will be forced to choose either Reyaad Pieterse or Brilliant Khuzwayo to deputise between the posts as Chiefs look to open up the gap between themselves and the Brazilians.
