Nkosi: We Have To Dig Deep

Kaizer Chiefs will face Free State Stars in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals. The clash was confirmed after Mpumalanga Black Aces were knocked out of the competition by Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night (8 October).

However, it could be a tough encounter for Chiefs as they have to play Stars at their home ground in QwaQwa. The Goble Park Stadium is often seen as a difficult place to visit as the playing conditions are said not to be the easiest.

At times windy conditions and a bumpy pitch appear to make good passing football a little bit difficult.

Nonetheless, Chiefs’ midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi believes a result is possible if the players dig deep and fight hard for the win.

The 32-year-old’s positive mindset is something Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane commended Nkosi for in edition 842 of Soccer-Laduma.

Yeye said, “Siya is a true professional...He is always committed to the cause of the team and he loves doing what he does.”

Speaking ahead of the upcoming quarterfinal, Nkosi gave his optimistic views on the match against Stars.

He told the club’s official website, "Playing Stars in their own backyard is not going to be easy. They are resilient when they play at home. We will have to dig deep to beat them in QwaQwa."

He added, "We are capable of beating them to reach the semi-finals. We played 0-0 against them the last time we met them in the first round of the league fixture last season. The conditions were not conducive that day. We hope that we will play in better conditions this time.”
