The mystery of the man who has been linked to the takeover of National First Division Blackburn Rovers is now solved - he is Mr Nino Chidoni of Gemelli Clothing (PTY) LTD, and his eventual aim is to bring Amarova to Durban, KZN, where there is currently no second-tier outfit at all.
The friendly SA-born Italian told Soccer-Laduma that the paperwork for the deal has already been processed.
“The contract has been signed by the guy who owns the club (Dumisani Mcedani),” he said.
“All we’re really looking for, apart from the contract of sale, is the final stamp from the PSL, then it’s all done and dusted. They say it’s a formality, but you never know - but having said that, I’m fairly deeply involved already, we’re rolling as much as we can.”
Derek Blanckensee, the PSL’s Football GM, confirmed receipt of the respective documents.
“They’re being prepared for the PSL Executive Committee next week,” he explained. “We don’t know what they’ll say or where the process is.”
The club has just spent a week camping in Durban prior to their weekend away clash with Jomo Cosmos, and Chidoni is hoping for a turnaround.
“Against FC Cape Town, which was the first match I saw, we let in a very soft goal. Our goalkeeper Sheldon Baatjies was gutted, he couldn’t talk to me,” Chidoni concluded.
