Coach Rules Himself Out Of Race As Chiefs' Komphela Replacement
Nikola Kavazovic appears to have ruled himself out of the race to take on the head coaching role at Kaizer Chiefs, saying that it was ‘not the right moment’.
The Serbian has done wonders at Township Rollers at Botswana since his arrival in Gaborone, taking them to the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in their history, and recently won Botswana’s Premier League.
His success with Rollers led to him being linked with the vacant position at Naturena following Steve Komphela’s resignation earlier this year, but now – via his Twitter account – he looks to have confirmed that he will not be taking over.
He said on his official account, “I feel (a) moral duty to say BIG THANKS to all Kaizer Chiefs fans who wrote me and wanted me there. I am shocked by (the) number of people, didn't expect that. Guess it was not the right moment but it will come for sure. Thank you very much once again & see you in future. God bless you all.”
Chiefs have been linked with several names in recent weeks, and Bobby Motaung recently said that they hope to have the matter finalised soon.
The Glamour Boys will return for pre-season on June 25th.
