Reported Chiefs Target Confirms PSL Interest
Nikola Kavazovic Has Commented On Links With Kaizer Chiefs & Baroka
Nikola Kavazovic, a man who has been linked with both Kaizer Chiefs and Baroka, has confirmed that there is interest from the PSL but says that he’s focused on Township Rollers.
The Serbian coach has done a fantastic job in Botswana as he led Rollers to the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history – no other team from Botswana has ever made it – and they got off to a fine start last week as they beat Uganda’s KCCA.
Kavazovic has previously been linked with the Amakhosi as they hunt for their replacement for Steve Komphela, and the latest rumours doing the rounds are that Bakgaga are also interested in trying to tempt him across the border and into Mzansi.
The Siya crew got in touch with the 42-year-old to discuss his future in Gaborone, and he said, “Everything is in the hands of my agent, Mr Ivica Stankovic. I am informed that few clubs are interested in my services, and I will let him choose what could be the most suitable for my first season in South Africa. Whatever he decides, I will accept without questions.”
When asked whether, in fact, he would be open to a move into the Absa Premiership, he replied, “Sure, but only if those clubs can provide conditions which will satisfy my agent and my family. We are not talking just about money, but also about the structure and facilities of the club.”
But Kavazovic is not unhappy in Botswana’s capital, and he made it very clear that he would not be adverse to stick around with Rollers as he enjoys their first campaign in the continental group stages.
He clarified, “I am more than happy with Rollers! I am playing in the Champions League! The only club in South Africa that share that wonderful experience at the moment is Mamelodi Sundowns. But as I said, if Mr Stankovic recommends that I should move, for me that is amen. If he suggests to me to continue with Rollers and Champions League, then it’s also the same. He will not take just anything from South African clubs, he will bring a decision carefully.”
Rollers are currently on top of the Premier League in Botswana with two games left to go, and Kavazovic will be focused on making sure that they clinch their third consecutive league title.
