Chippa United are expecting the arrival of Nigerian defender Kelvin Njoku, as coach Farouk Abrahams looks to add depth to his squad.
The former Enyimba player has attracted interest from the Cape-based side, with a reliable source close to the ongoing negotiations revealing that the arrangements for the player’s trip to Cape Town have already been made.
“There is a defender that is going to Chippa United. He is a good defender from Nigeria. His name is Kelvin Njoku. The player’s arrival at the club is expected anytime from now and the guys at the club know about him.
“He is a big player that has been part of the local national team of Nigeria and he played for Enyimba back home in Nigeria. A lot of big players from Nigeria like Ezenwa (Otorogu) and (Onyekachi) Okonkwo come from that club. The Nigerian league has just ended. He is a very strong guy who played in the champions league for Enyimba,” said the source.
The Chilli Boys already have Nigerian defender James Okwuosa playing for the team. It is believed that the two players could form a solid partnership at the back, as they aim minimise the number of goals conceded by the team.
