Mpumalanga Black Aces goalkeeper Bafana Nhlapo was named Man of the Match despite his side losing 3-1 to Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout last 16 on Tuesday night.
Nhlapo pulled of some magnificent saves for the home side on the night after Aces went behind following an opening goal from Lennox Bacela - the highlight being an incredible stop to claw out a point-blank attempt from Daine Klate.
In the end, the pressure from Pirates eventually paid off as Nhalpo was beaten by Bacela again before Oupa Manyisa fired through his legs in the final seconds.
"It's an honour for me to be the Man of the Match, even though I was on the losing side. But I have tried to work hard, though I conceded three goals at the end of the day," he said.
"I think what influenced me is that it is my son's birthday, so I was dedicating this match to him. I was trying my level best to keep my team in the game, But it is hard luck that we lost today.
"I think we were a bit sloppy in conceding the first goal. The striker came in front of my defender and scored. Even the second one, my defence was ball watching.
"But anyway, it's part of the game. I think we must go back to the drawing board and work hard."
