It seems that University of Pretoria may have won their battle to sign defender Siyabonga Ngubane on a permanent basis from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Ngubane spent the second half of last season on loan with Tuks after a difficult spell at Chloorkop during which he didn’t make a single appearance for the first team.
However, under Steve Barker the 24-year-old blossomed and played a crucial role in their impressive debut season in the PSL, as they secured a place in the top eight.
Word reaching the Siya crew is that Tuks have now agreed to terms with the Brazilians regarding the player and that it is just a case of him agreeing to personal terms with the university side.
It was believed that Tuks had all but given up on landing the versatile defender this season, even eyeing Thanda Royal Zulu defender, Cardyne Dunn, as a possible replacement for him.
However, it now seems that they will get their man, with Sundowns keen to trim down their squad ahead of the new season.
