Orlando Pirates will do battle against Platinum Stars tonight at Mbombela for in the Telkom Knckout cup final.
The Phokeng-based outfit beat Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs to reach the final of this cup but Stars midfielder, Robert Ng’ambi, tonight is going to be a new game, we’ve forgotten about our past games.
“Well, we’re ready for this game and I must say that the coach has prepared the team well. Obviously it’s not going to be easy but we’re focusing on getting the win tonight. We know Pirates haven’t won anything this year so they’ll come looking for a win but we’re up for it. We want to go to the game to do our best and make our supporters happy, we know we can do it,” said the Malawian midfielder.
Although Ng’ambi revealed that captain Vuyo Mere has trained, he’s not sure if he’s going to play. The former Black Leopards player denied that Pirates are underdogs as they beat them in the MTN8 final in September.
“At the moment I’m not sure but he trained and is part of the team. What I know is that we must put up a fight against Pirates. The coach has made his plan clear to us and I believe if we follow his instruction, we’ll get a win. We’re still underdogs, Pirates is more experienced than us and they’ve played in many cup finals than us. I think they’re favourites to win it. Beating Supersport, Chiefs, Sundowns and them in the MTN8 means nothing, that’s history. I foresee a tough one tonight,” added Ng’ambi.
