NFD Round Up

National First Division leaders Milano United bounced back after two successive draws while Chippa United overpowered African Warriors with a late penalty, and Roses United grabbed their first win of the season.

There were also victories for ten-man Witbank Spurs, Black Leopards, Vasco da Gama and Santos.

“Eezy my Kinners” maintained their three-point advantage at the top of the tree following a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Wynberg. Their goals came from Lesvin Stoffels and Abdul Jacobs.

Earlier, on Friday night, the Chilli Boys managed to overhaul third-placed African Warriors 2-1, the winner coming from Robin Rhode in the 94th minute. Chippa’s other goal came in the first half via Philani Dlamini prior to Warriors equalising through Sibusiso Mdamba.

Roses’ coach Klaas Khanye promised Soccer-Laduma that his charges would eventually find form, and that’s exactly what happened against Baroka at Makhulong where his side convincingly won 3-1.

Thanks to fine finishes from Teboho Kalake around the 19th minute, second half substitute David Fakude and Thato Sithole, Roses are now out of the drop zone.

But last season’s highflyers Thanda Royal Zulu, which lost for the fifth time, 2-1 away to Kosta Papic’s improving Leopards, are in real danger.

Jomo Cosmos failed yet again, falling to a first half sizzler from Witbank Spurs’ schemer Sici Shelembe who netted the only goal of that match.

Vasco did well to beat United FC 2-1 in Moruleng with Waseem Isaacs and an own goal doing the damage.

Santos were also on song keeping local rivals FC Cape Town rooted to the foot of the table after a 2-0 win in Parow. Gregory Roelf and Edwin Sitayitayi were their heroes.

The match between Maluti FET College and Sivutsa Stars ended goalless.
