The PSL have confirmed that tonight’s PSL/NFD Promotion Play-off between Chippa United and Santos will go ahead as planned.
NFD side, Thanda Royal Zulu, had attempted to get the match postponed as they disagree with the final league standings in the division, however it has been revealed that their court case has been postponed.
A statement from the PSL said, “Today the South Gauteng High Court Judge ruled that the Promotion Play-offs can continue on the proviso that before each fixture, an announcement is made that the results of the fixtures are provisional pending a finalisation of the review/appeal by Thanda Royal Zulu.”
Meanwhile, the league’s acting CEO, Cambridge Mokanyane said: “We are pleased about the court’s decision and we can now proceed with the Promotion Play-offs as planned.”
Santos will travel to the Philippi Stadium to play Chippa United tonight, however the game will no longer be televised after SuperSport pulled the plug following the uncertainty surrounding the fixture.
