In this week's edition of Soccer-Laduma, Issue 855, new Blackburn Rovers owner Nino Chidoni speaks to us about why he decided to take over the struggling side - with the NFD Focus brought to you by Lucky Star.
As previously reported by Soccer-Laduma, Chidoni has taken over at Rovers and in this interview he explains why he chose to invest in the team and outlined his plans going forward.
"I've come because of a passion for the game. The main reason is that the club was in danger. I've haven't only taken on Blackburn Rovers as a soccer team. I also want to build wholesome guys.
"They have to do some academic courses like the Sharks have done in rugby. I've always tried to run a completely straight and clean ship."
Chidoni also discussed the R430 000 monthly grant, saying that the huge financial gap between the PSL and NFD is a major problem.
"I can tell you there's a problem. Having the feeder league to the PSL so different in terms of funds and value creates issues. Instead of having the two divisions close to each other, which will then improve the overall standard, the current situation invites all sorts of negativity to the relegation area," he added.
"The desperation of the guys wanting to stay in the PSL is evident. As soon as the grant comes in, we'll pay the salaries. If I'm expecting the team to do what I'm asking them to, then I've got to do what I say I'm going to do."
