NFD Clubs Leave Meeting Surprised

During today’s meeting in Johannesburg where National First Division clubs met their PSL counterparts, for the first time this season, nothing of note was achieved.

In fact, officials from the second-tier were rather surprised at the brevity of the ‘get together’, considering they had numerous issues which they wanted to be heard.

Peter Koutroulis of Chippa United, who wanted to bring up the U23 Rule, says he has never been involved in such a short meeting.

“Nothing, nothing, nothing was achieved,” he told Soccer-Laduma. “I’ve never been in and out so quickly. We didn’t discuss the grant, and weren’t given the opportunity to bring up certain things.”

Maluti FET College administrator Sibongile Mthabela was also stunned at the quickness of the gathering.

“I was very surprised,” she said. “We only met for about two hours. Dr Khoza chaired the meeting and did welcome Maluti to the league but none of the budget was discussed.

“They’re giving us time to go back, think about it and make notes so that later on we can meet again. The committee is expecting us to forward our suggestions.”

Soccer-Laduma can reveal that certain issues regarding the ‘standalone NFD’ are still outstanding.

“I heard mention that there are a whole lot of legal implications with regards to the standalone NFD,” Mthabela concluded.
