Newly-signed AmaZulu goalkeeper Veli Mothwa has discussed his shock move from Chippa United.
As revealed by the Siya crew at the weekend, former captain of the side, Mothw, surprisingly left the camp of the Chilli Boys just a day before their game against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Sunday to join Usuthu.
“Yes, I was the captain of Chippa United and I performed very well last season. For me to come here is not about trying to move away from the competition that I had there, it’s about a phase of the player. I’ve been with Chippa for six years, so I think it was high time for me to leave the team and find a new home and new challenges and then compete. I’ve been competing with goalkeepers I didn’t get my chance, and then I got my chance last season,” said Mothwa, speaking to the media during his unveiling.
“Even now I have to compete for me to get my chance also, so I’m willing to do that. I’m glad to be in this team it has quality players and I wouldn’t be here if I was not and I’m not here to add numbers, I’m here to work hard for this team and I’m here to perform at my level best and that’s why the chairman told me last time that, ‘I’m not bringing you here just to add numbers, I want you to work and work more than you did at Chippa United.’ So, I’m here to do that,” the 29-year-old shot-stopper added.
