News reaching the Siya crew is that Chippa United are disputing their two PSL Promotion/Relegation Playoff games, against Santos and Mpumalanga Black Aces, with the Premier Soccer League.
Chippa drew 0-0 with Santos at the Phillipi Stadium, before losing 1-0 to Aces, away, in Mpumalanga.
The Chilli Boys Chairman, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, has explained that they have lodged a dispute with the PSL.
He said, “The PSL told us that the games we played against Santos and Aces were provisional games because there was a pending case against the PSL that was lodged by Thanda Royal Zulu.
“We have since scrutinised this ‘provisional’ status and found out that there’s no such thing as a ‘provisional match’ in either the PSL, SAFA or FIFA constitutions. That’s why we lodged a dispute with the PSL and now our dispute will also be resolved by the arbitrator.”
“We want the arbitrator to declare our first two playoffs games as null and void and take the Santos versus Aces game, which was played on Thursday night, as the first game of the NFD Promotional Playoffs.
“The PSL need to then set up other dates for our games against Santos and Aces,” added Mpengesi.
In the meantime, the PSL have announced that the playoffs will continue as scheduled, with Santos hosting Chippa United Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
