South African striker Dino Ndlovu showed his quality yesterday (Tuesday) as he scored four goals in Maccabi Haifa’s 6-0 win over Ramat Hasharon in the Ligat ha’Al.
Ndlovu was recently called up to Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana set-up for their World Cup qualifier with the Central African Republic, however did not feature in the game.
The striker’s four-goal haul in just one game could go some way in persuading Igesund that the 23-year-old deserves a chance in his starting line-up when they travel to play CAR away in June.
Ndlovu is the first South African to score four goals in one game in a European league since legend, Steve Mokone, scored five for Torino in the 1960s.
Four goals in one game is a feat that neither Benni McCarthy nor Shaun Bartlett, two of South Africa’s deadliest strikers in recent years, could achieve.
The forward was on the end of four fine moves for his club, finishing with deadly accuracy as he all but secured his place as Mzansi’s top scorer abroad for the season.
