Polokwane City are on the verge of adding Mandla Ncikazi to their technical team, in anticipation of the 2013/14 season. Ncikazi was part of the Free State Stars set-up last season.
Ncikazi confirmed with Soccer-Laduma that negotiations with the club are at an advanced stage, which will see him assist head coach Duncan Lechesa on the City bench.
“The negotiations are at an advanced stage. There is a strong indication that I may join them. They want me as an assistant coach,” said Ncikazi.
He went on to explain why he decided to leave Ea Lla Koto. “When I was employed by Free State Stars there was a possibility that Steve (Komphela) would leave for the national team at the time. The club wanted me to work with Themba (Sithole). So, when Steve didn’t get the job in the national team, he went back to the club.
“With Steve, Themba and me, maybe it was a bit difficult for the club in terms of their budget. It was something we agreed on,” said Ncikazi.
Ncikazi’s appointment seems to be imminent, as City prepare for life in the PSL. Soccer-Laduma will keep you updated on the club’s dealings.
