Bucks & Thanda Tied On Top As Four Clubs Breakaway

The top four NFD clubs, Mthatha Bucks, Thanda Royal Zulu, University of Pretoria and AmaZulu have broken away after recording valuable victories, while Mbombela United and Magesi FC also grabbed all three points at the expense of Milano United and FC Cape Town respectively.

A spectacular first-half shot from Mazwi Mncube against Witbank Spurs at the Puma Rugby Stadium ensured that Bucks and Thanda are tied on top spot with exactly the same goal difference.

Although this 1-0 result must have been difficult for Siyavutha’s fans to swallow, there was joy at Mpumalanga’s other side, Mbombela, as they easily overpowered Eezy my Kinnes 2-0.

Newly-signed striker, Siyabonga Madikane, grabbed a brace which leaves Boebie Solomons’ side in trouble.

On Sunday Amabhubhesi easily beat Royal Eagles by the same score in Richards Bay courtesy of goals from Mhlengi Cele and Katlego Maphate.

Sammy Troughton is another head coach under pressure after Stellenbosch succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of AmaTuks despite going ahead via Alcardo Van Graan.

Second half strikes by Broderick Burds and Chemon Petersen, his second in a row, gave Shaun Bartlett something to smile about, especially when the home side missed a late penalty.

Another Cape Town team on the receiving end of a defeat was All Stars who couldn’t match Usuthu’s class. Their legendary striker, Siyabonga Nomvethe, netted the only goal of the game.

Jackie Ledwaba’s Magesi certainly showed the African Beasts who was best during an exciting 3-2 win. Immediately after trailing 1-0 through Andile Khumalo’s header, his side levelled matters with Sakhele Nhlabathi’s header.

They then went on a continual attacking spree which paid off handsomely as Noah Maimela netted twice.

In Thohoyandou, Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos played to a 1-1 draw, while Real Kings and Santos produced the same result at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Veteran marksman, Brice Aka, salvaged a point for Ezenkosi after Mwape Musonda’s 5th minute opener for Lidoda Duvha.
