All Stars Lose As Baroka Go Top

In a weekend of upsets, two of the top three National First Division outfits, Cape Town All Stars and Royal Eagles, were stung 3-0 by Milano United and Mbombela United respectively, but Baroka FC continued their winning ways after easily overpowering Mthatha Bucks 2-0.
Furthermore, there were also victories for Black Leopards, Witbank Spurs, Highlands Park and AmaZulu, who thrashed Moroka Swallows 4-0.
While Igugu Lekapa lost their unbeaten record as Eezy my Kinnes took full advantage with goals from Nasief Morris (penalty), Lesvin Stoffels and Brandon Theron, Bakgaga are a point ahead after five matches.
A week after humiliating Moroka Swallows, Mbombela rose to the occasion yet again to show big-spending Eagles who was best at the Kanyamazane Stadium, where a Sifiso Thomo brace and a single strike from Lebohang Maboe means Tingwenyama leapfrogged their opponents on goal difference.
Steve Barker’s Usuthu moved up to fifth position following their resounding show against the Birds in Durban as Petrus Shitembi, Linda Bhengu, Ayabulela Konqobe and Bornwell Mwape finally gave their loyal fans something to cheer about.
An interesting aspect of that match was that former Swallows goal minder, Sage Stephens, was in remarkable form.
Lidoda Luvha, thanks to efforts from Rudolph Nevhulamba, Ivan Mahangwahaya and Leonard Ntshangase bounced back with a great 3-1 home win over troubled FC Cape Town.
This result lifted Leopards up to third on the same number of points (ten) as Spurs, who managed to grab a vital 1-0 victory over Santos at Athlone.
Julius Linkontsane’s first-half goal has put enormous pressures on head coach, Zeca Marques, but it remains to seen whether the People’s Team sign some better defenders.
Allan Freese’s Lions of the North gave another good display of attacking football when they overpowered African Warriors 3-0 at the Makhulong Stadium.
Accurate finishes from Auguston Leonard, Dino Ramic and Jermaine Christian (penalty) ensured Park remains in touch with the title contenders.
There was also joy at Parow Park where Vasco da Gama beat Thanda Royal Zulu 1-0 for their opening three-point haul as the veteran Jonathan Armogam became an instant hero.
